You thought you had enough of the latest Final Fantasy? Think again! Over the weekend during PAX East, Square Enix revealed a timeline for Final Fantasy XV, which will see four more pieces of story downloadable content, with the first of four featuring Ardyn, and a release sometime in 2019. In addition to Episode Ardyn, we will see Episode Aranea, Episode Lunafreya, and Episode Noctis in that order. These will begin in 2019 and will arrive with one per month after that.   All four episodes will be directed by Takefumi Terada, the Episode Ignis director. Also out of PAX East, the multiplayer component, Comrades, will get a stand-alone release this summer. As of now, I’ve had a hard time playing Comrades, as I’ve yet […]

The Nintendo Switch is as of now, the future of gaming. Melding both console and handheld into one, we’re seeing publishers port their existing libraries to the exceptional platform at an wonderful pace. Square Enix is supporting the platform by rereleasing many of the older Final Fantasy titles for the Switch and most recently, the Pocket Edition of Final Fantasy XV. Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition has the same story beats as it’s older brother on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. This version of that game is stripped down to the essentials and built up with a new platform in mind. Amazingly, this iteration feels coherent and welcoming to those who skipped out on the main iteration or are […]

With the recent cancellation of all but one piece of downloadable content for Final Fantasy XV, there’s not much else to get excited about for this game. Granted, this is because Hajime Tabata decided to leave Square to pursue something else, something he truly wanted to do. You can’t blame him for wanting to change things up for himself. Square Enix, over the years, has been polishing and improving Final Fantasy XV with expansions. We got some really good content last year that expanded the series in new and exciting ways, which leads us to this year. We know that Episode Ardyn is coming in March 2019 and will take place roughly 30 years before the main game even begins.

I was just finishing up high school when Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Boy, what a long journey its been for us. We’ve both seen so much in these last ten years, it’s been up and it been down. At one point, I was worried I’d never play Versus XIII, which eventually turned into Final Fantasy XV, but I’m happy to tell you that it’s been worth the wait. When you begin to play Final Fantasy XV, the first thing you see is the message: “A Final Fantasy for Fans and First-timers.” Square Enix has done a commendable job removing stigmata behind the series as being something you simply can’t just jump into. It’s also the most drastic departure for the […]
